Violins of Hope

Violins from the Holocaust can be heard in Berlin. How does one commemorate six millions murdered Jews – 70 years after the liberation of Auschwitz? Katrin Sandmann pursues an answer to that question one evening at the Berlin Philharmonic, where a special concert is being held. Among the contemporary witnesses with whom Sandman speaks for this rbb documentary is Anita Lasker-Wallfisch: now 89 years old, she was cellist of the “Girl’s Orchestra” of Auschwitz.
