About Kobalt
Kobalt was founded in 1997 by Stefan Mathieu, Tita von Hardenberg and Michael Khano. Since then, the company has specialised in the development and production of high-quality television formats and creative on-air designs. Kobalt made its breakthrough in the TV market with the then entirely new concept of the contemporary affairs magazine programme “Polylux” (1997–2009). This was followed by further influential cultural and pop culture programmes, as well as documentaries and current affairs series. Today, Kobalt is one of Germany’s leading independent production companies.
A separate division of the company, Kobalt Kreation, focuses on corporate films, on-air graphics and advertising. In 2015, another subsidiary was founded, Kobalt Documentary, which specialises in the production of documentary films and handles international co-productions.
The team, which now numbers 60 people comprising editors, cameramen, editors, designers, directors and online specialists, aims to produce more than just quality: Kobalt sees itself as a style-setter and a publisher of contemporary, high-quality journalism in all formats. A source of inspiration for anyone interested in the world around them.
