Herbert Grönemeyer is Germany’s most successful pop star. Even as he approaches his 70th birthday, he still fills stadiums with ease. “Grönemeyer – Alles bleibt anders” is a personal portrait of a fascinating artist.

With unforgettable hits such as “Bochum”, “Flugzeuge im Bauch” and the World Cup anthem “Zeit, dass sich was dreht”, Grönemeyer has written the soundtrack for several generations and left a lasting mark on German pop music. This remains true to this day, as he has once again demonstrated with his sold-out 2025 tour “Mittendrin”. Featuring rare archive footage, as well as friends and companions such as Toni Kroos, Anke Engelke, Nina Hoss and younger colleagues like Paula Hartmann, this 90-minute documentary explores how the artist has managed to remain curious, relevant and successful over the decades. For the first time, two of his closest confidants – his long-standing manager Claudia Kaloff and his bodyguard Ingo Mertens – also offer insights into the superstar’s life and work in this film.
